Black Ink |
AboutUnder all pretenses, Black writers have developed themes that, while narrowly being linked to specific claims, universally unite common realities, notably: discrimination, equality, colonialism and the recognition of civil and human rights. Nevertheless, this abundant literary production remains poorly known, if at all. ‘Black Ink' produced by Images Interculturelles , represent an attempt to remedy this gap. It proposes an inventory that, although non exhaustive, will represent the wealth and variety of Black literatures. The adaptation of this exhibition is carried out by Images Interculturelles with the financial support of Canadian Heritage. The first part of the exhibit was created in 2001 with the support of the Ministère de l'Immigration et des Communautés culturelles. Images Interculturelles is an organization based in Montréal whose principle mandate is to contribute to the fight against all forms of intolerance and to support the development of intercultural relations thru education, cultural activities and communication. In the year 2002, Images Interculturelles initiated the Actions Week Against Racism (AWAR). In 2006, the event was presented simultaneously in Montreal and Quebec City and also in other countries like Switzerland and in Belgium .
